Awimax Energy Limited successfully commissioned the upgraded 40 Million Litre petroleum products storage depot for Matrix Aida Energy Oil in Warri, Delta State, in an event attended by industry stakeholders, government representatives and project partners.
The commissioning ceremony marked the culmination of extensive engineering, procurement and construction work undertaken by Awimax Energy's multidisciplinary project team. The upgraded depot at Warri, Delta State, now provides Matrix Aida Energy Oil with a state-of-the-art petroleum products storage and distribution facility capable of handling 40 million litres of petroleum products.
Project Overview
The Matrix Aida Energy depot upgrade project involved comprehensive civil and structural works, installation of new storage tanks and pipework, fire protection systems including foam and deluge systems, electrical power distribution and control systems, product metering and loading facilities, and instrumentation and automation systems for operational control.
The project was executed in phases to allow Matrix Aida Energy to maintain operations throughout the upgrade period, a logistical challenge that required careful planning and coordination between Awimax's engineering team and the client's operations staff.
Technical Highlights
The upgraded facility incorporates modern operational and safety features that significantly improve the depot's throughput capacity, measurement accuracy and HSE performance. Key technical achievements include the installation of precision product metering systems to minimise measurement losses, integration of a centralised control system for improved operational visibility, and upgrade of all fire detection and suppression systems to meet current DPR and NFPA standards.
A Milestone for Awimax
The successful commissioning of the Matrix Aida Energy depot represents one of Awimax Energy's largest and most complex tank farm and depot upgrade projects to date, and demonstrates our capability to deliver major petroleum infrastructure projects across Nigeria's challenging operational environments.
Our Managing Director, Engr. Abdulwahab Yesufu, expressed pride in the project outcome: "This commissioning marks a significant achievement for our team. The Matrix Aida Energy project showcases what Nigerian engineers can deliver when given the opportunity — technically sophisticated, safely executed, and delivered on time for our client."
