Awimax Delivers New Bitumen Metering & Storage System

Awimax Energy Limited has successfully completed and commissioned a state-of-the-art bitumen metering and storage system at a petroleum products depot, marking another milestone in our growing portfolio of specialised downstream services.

The project involved the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of a complete bitumen metering and storage facility, designed to meet the operational needs of our client's petroleum products business. Awimax's multi-disciplinary team delivered the project on schedule and to the highest technical standards.

Project Scope

The scope of work included the design and installation of heated bitumen storage tanks, precision metering systems for accurate product dispensing, insulated pipework and trace heating, pump systems for product transfer, civil and structural foundations, fire and gas detection systems, and full electrical and instrumentation works.

Bitumen handling presents significant engineering challenges due to its high viscosity and the need to maintain elevated temperatures throughout the storage and metering process. Awimax's engineering team applied proven design principles and industry best practices to deliver a system that ensures reliable, accurate and safe bitumen metering operations.

Technical Standards

All aspects of the project were designed and executed in accordance with applicable standards including DPR requirements, NFPA fire protection codes, API standards for petroleum storage, and the client's own operational specifications. Comprehensive testing and commissioning activities were carried out before handover to ensure full functionality and operator safety.
