Awimax Energy Limited has successfully completed comprehensive civil, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation upgrade works at Azman Oil & Gas's 38 million litre petroleum products storage depot in Calabar, Cross River State — one of Awimax's largest and most complex upgrade projects.
The Azman Oil & Gas depot upgrade project in Calabar required Awimax Energy's full EPCIC capability, bringing together our civil, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation teams in a coordinated multi-discipline delivery that transformed an ageing petroleum storage facility into a modern, compliant and operationally efficient depot.
Why the Upgrade Was Needed
Azman Oil & Gas identified the need to upgrade their Calabar depot to meet current DPR regulatory requirements, improve operational safety, increase throughput capacity and reduce product losses from measurement inaccuracies. The depot handles significant volumes of petroleum products including petrol (PMS), diesel (AGO) and kerosene (DPK) for the Cross River and Akwa Ibom State markets.
Scope of Works Delivered
Awimax Energy delivered a comprehensive scope of upgrade works covering all major disciplines:
- Civil & Structural: Tank bund wall reconstruction, road and drainage rehabilitation, new tank foundations, control room and pump house refurbishment
- Mechanical & Piping: New process pipework and valve replacement, pump installation and alignment, manifold upgrades, tank cleaning and internal inspection
- Fire Protection: Full fire hydrant and monitor system upgrade, new foam concentrate tanks and proportioning systems, deluge system for pump house area
- Electrical: New main power distribution panel, MCC replacement, earthing and bonding upgrade, new hazardous area lighting
- Instrumentation: New product metering systems (turbine meters and flow computers), level gauging systems for all tanks, new field instruments
Delivered on Schedule
Despite the complexity and scale of the upgrade works, and the challenge of working on a live depot site with ongoing operations, Awimax Energy delivered the project on time and within budget — a testament to the planning, scheduling and project management capability of our team.
